Support health centres,Mzimba DHO appeals
Mzimba South District Health Office medical officer Angelo Mwaungulu has appealed to partners and stakeholders to support health facilities in the district to enhance health services delivery.
He said this on Tuesday at Kamteteka Health Centre in Traditional Authority (T/A) M’Mbelwa in the district where United General Insurance (UGI) in partnership with Linda Ward Foundation donated assorted items to the facility.
Mwaungulu said most health centres in the district lack essential items to operate effectively such as beds, mattresses and medical items, among others.

He said: “These health centres were also built a long time ago and time has passed without any major rehabilitation works which has led to most of them to be in dilapidated state.
“We appeal to different partners and stakeholders to support us in any way they can.”
On his part, UGI chief executive officer Grant Mwenechanya said they donated the items to the facility after Linda Ward Foundation approached them on the initiative.
“We have donated 10 mattresses, blankets, chairs and drip stands worth K4.5 million to help enhance service delivery at the facility which serves about 22 000 people,” he said.
Linda Ward, an American citizen who founded the Linda Ward Foundation based at Kamteteka, said she was eager to partner different stakeholders to uplift people’s lives in the area.
“Our interest is that we should help people of Kamteteka from all circles of life, ranging from education, agriculture and health,” she said.
Mzimba South DHO has 33 health facilities serving a population of about 770 000 people.
